Foster Holly #2 (Ilex x attenuata Fosteri) has handsome dark evergreen foliage, nice red fruit, and tough constitution, earning its place as one of the most frequently specified broadleaf evergreens. It can be used alone or in groups/masses to screen and define. It hedges well and can be pruned several times a year . . . or just let it alone to do its own thing. Naturally grows as a compact pyramidal tree in the North; in the South, it will develop a fluffy, soft exotic outline if left unpruned.
